الحال— The Circumstantial Clause
الحال is an indefinite, always-منصوب noun that describes the state of the فاعل or مفعول به at the moment the verb happens — دَخَلَ الْمُدَرِّسُ بَاسِمًا, "the teacher entered smiling." It can also be a full clause introduced by واو الحال, as in خَرَجَ الطَّالِبُ وَهُوَ يَضْحَكُ. Unlike النعت, which agrees with its noun in definiteness, الحال is always indefinite, even when the noun it describes is definite.
