اسم الفاعل واسم المفعول— Active & Passive Participles

اسم الفاعل names who does the action; اسم المفعول names what it was done to. Form I uses two fixed patterns — فَاعِلٌ (كَاتِبٌ، طَالِبٌ) and مَفْعُولٌ (مَكْتُوبٌ، مَفْتُوحٌ). Forms II–X instead replace the مضارع prefix with مُـ, then split on a single vowel: kasra before the last letter for اسم الفاعل (مُدَرِّسٌ، مُهَنْدِسٌ), fatḥa for اسم المفعول (مُعَلَّمٌ).
